Just felt like doing a random rant since I haven't done one in awhile.
First off, the Sean Bell murder. Now if your not familiar with the name Sean Bell, he was an African-American New Yorker who was shoot 50 times after attending his bachelor party at a strip club called Kalua Cabaret in Jamaica, Queens. The club was being investigated by seven cops for prostitution at the time. Click the link here Sean Bell Murder to find out more the case. Now for a cop or anyone to shoot a man "50" times is a little inhumane to me. This guy had a future wife and kid who now have to live their lives without husband/father. It's just ridiculous the level these cops took the situation and are still some how found not guilty...
This week has just been a really laid back week for me. Didn't do to much, kinda kept to myself most days. Needed a little break from the insanity of some people. I went down to one of Anchorage's most popular music stations today and got a tour for a class I'm taking. It was pretty cool. The lady showing me around has her own radio show and wanted me to give a couple of shout outs. She also wants me to sign up for their summer internship program. I think I'm gonna do it, I don't really want to work in fast food or retail all summer long.
Why do people find it necessary to walk across the street while wearing nothing but dark clothing on when it's dark as hell out? Why? Are you asking for someone to hit your a**? I almost hit about 3 people on my way home tonight who were walking across the street wearing all black. Come one, let's have a little bit more common sense than that.
John Mayer's new song "Say" has to be one of my favorite songs right now. Everytime I hear it, it just puts me in a good mood. Oh, and also his song "No Such Thing". Those two songs are amazing.
I wanna encourage everyone to visit this new site called Project New Era. It's site dedicated to helping inform people of stories or cases that didn't get much media attention, stories primarly focused on the African-American community. The site is run by a popular blogger named Jia, writer of Jia-tv.com and the video blog Jia-TV. It's a great site, really informative and lets you know of the stories that aren't hitting your local news stations.
Anyway, hope everyone has a good weekend. Post your thoughts.
First of all its really great to find a blogger from Anchorage, Alaska; I hope your blog veers from time to time into what life is like closer to your home.
As for the Bell case, being from Canada it wasn't really familiar to me. We have our (increasing) share of gun violence and police brutality cases but still not so many that we fail to be shocked if someone is shot twice. 50 times isn't even a figure I can get my head around.

John Mayer's song "Say" is an excellent song. I can't wait to buy it because I too love it Ty. That is really great about the internship at the radio station. What a cool job that will be and who knows what it could lead to. Definitely take them up on that offer!
Hope you are having a great evening Ty and have a great rest of the weekend!

Sean wasn't married quite yet...just short of it...I think the verdict was crap. Warning shot...fine...take cover...make SURE they are going to pull a weapon and fire. Those cops needed to have their badges snagged and thrown in jail!
